Many musicians struggle with the business side of life...

How do I treat my music like a business?
How do I balance personal life with work?
How do I approach marketing? Sales?
How can I make the most of the time I have?

These questions apply whether you want to book higher paying gigs, get more students, or get your recording projects off the ground...

...and they are rarely taught in music school.

Everyone has different goals and desires, so we'll be helping you define your dreams and goals, and then exploring the best ways to go after them!

You will leave class with clear action items and tools to increase your earnings and organize your time

About Daniel Plane

Daniel Plane went from cobbling together uncommitted students and low paying gigs to tripling his income in a 2 year period prior to the pandemic. Over the last two years he has built and operated a six-figure music business while balancing the demands of personal life, marriage, and parenthood.

This training is an introduction to the best practices and business principles that he uses, so you can grow your own business on your terms.

As a performer and educator, Daniel has helped to pioneer groove techniques on the cello, and is a seasoned improviser in a number of styles. Classically trained at Interlochen Arts Academy and The Longy School of Music, he also attended the Berklee School of music where exposure to Bluegrass, Klezmer, and Jazz fanned his passion for trad/roots music. For the last 18 years his principal focus has been the study and performance of Blues, Jazz, Folk, and American and Irish fiddling on the cello & violin. His abilities as a multi-instrumentalist have created fertile ground for developing harmonic approaches to the cello that are shared by only a handful of people in the world.

His current students are mostly adult amateurs who want to have some fun playing folk music, but his advanced students include Peabody and Juilliard graduates looking for effective tools to expand their stylistic acumen.

Daniel is based in Madison, WI, and actively gigs with his old-time band, The Stop and Listen.
